Description
Allow users to view the nutrition statistics of a meal plan. The users can set and configure custom goals as needed.
Nutrition Statistics
On the meal planner, nutrition statistics should display nutrition information per day. Abbreviated nutrition statistics should show things like the calorie count, sodium, fat, carbs, etc as configured by the user. Extended nutrition statistics should show the full picture.
Additionally, on a dedicated interface, the daily nutrition totals should be tracked and readily visualized. For example, over the course of a year, a line graph can plot the calorie data of each day. This can give the user some feedback on current food trends such as if the food they’ve been eating has been more caloric or sodium rich recently.
Nutrition Goals
Nutrition goals would work hand in hand with the statistics by allowing the user to individualize their nutrition needs. The user should be able to set a minimum and maximum daily value for any given nutrient. Once set, any day on the meal plan which lies outside that goal should be flagged.
For example, assume that the user is targeting a minimum calorie count of 1700 and a maximum calorie count of 1800. If a day in the meal plan falls above or below those bounds, then the user should be alerted. This will help mitigate careless errors and meal planning mistakes.
